I am so Proud
On Wednesday 6th of July 2005, during the afternoon I was in London shortly after it was announced that London had won its bid to host the Olympic Games in 2012.
The atmosphere was fantastic!
People throughout the capital were celebrating.
Just 20 hours later I was in London again. I travelled on the Underground between King's Cross and Russell Square just shortly before it was bombed.
And, at the time of the bombings, I was in an office above Holborn station -the very next station along.
I came out onto the streets to the sights and sounds of a city in crisis.
Life is so strange
It can be so sweet. And it can be so sour.
It is so precious.
But also precious to me is a sense of community. And a feeling of belonging.
I am proud to be a Londoner.
